Dimples

When I was young, one of my nicknames was “smiley jon”. There were a lot of Jonathan & Johns around so I guess that was a way to differentiate me. And of course my dimples probably made people notice how smiley I was. It wasn’t because I was always happy that I smiled so much - I think for me smiling was just an easy way to break the tension or when I didn’t have anything much to say, it seemed to say enough. (Dimples are in fact a muscle defect, but as a friend once joked, “People with dimples have it easier in life.”)

Noah, on the other hand, is such a happy kid. It was the saving grace that got us through the many many sleepless nights (he is now 3 years old and has never slept through the night yet) and something that we are very grateful for. If there was a term to describe him, it would be “bright” - laughing with his whole body, smiling from ear to ear, spreading joy to everyone around with his weird & whimsical nature.

My dear Noah, your mother & I hope you never lose your spark. Never stop smiling & being a light to others - the world needs more light to shine through the darkness.
And don’t forget to flash those dimples.
