Ivan & Jun
“Omg, thank you! The photos are so wonderful, thank you for this gift.” - Ivan & Jun
Ivan is one of my closest friends and a fellow wedding photographer, a film director in Singapore. We share similar philosophies to photography and life, and ironically enough, both our partners are lawyers.
Ivan & Jun had kindly asked our children to be their page boy and flower girl - which they were both really excited about. I was really looking forward to attending their wedding - it had been a challenging year and so excuse for a visit to Singapore after 3 years of travel restrictions was a welcomed one.
Unfortunately, we had a lot of trouble making our way to their wedding. A bout of Covid, repeated flight delays and missing luggage meant that we arrived on the morning of the wedding instead of a week earlier. The journey there was setback after setback, but looking back, if I had to do it again, I would - because this was a wedding not to be missed.
Their ceremony was one of the most beautiful things I’ve witnessed. Held within their studio in Joo Chiat, which had served as their home for the past few years and it served as a fitting venue for their matrimonial vows. Surrounded by their 20 closest and dearest, their ceremony was an exchange of honesty - a sharing of their life’s journey; together and separate. Their reception was held at an Izakaya called Yorimichi Yakitori Izakaya. The venue was tiny, so friends were overflowing out to the corridor, but it didn’t matter. It was a night of good food, great wine, and an overwhelming sense of warmth & love.
Note : I was not the official photographer for this weddding - Ivan just handed me his Contax T2 & Leica Q and it was more than a privilege to capture these moments.
