Regional Victoria Campsite Wedding
“Thanks so much Jon, these are so beautiful!!! You are so amazing at what you do and we're so grateful. We have re-watched the slideshow again and again since Tuesday. The photos are absolutely so beautiful, I had tears watching it all again! You're a wizard! Thank you so much for capturing our day so perfectly. Our photos are incredibly vibrant, joyous and full of life and we couldn't be happier with how they came out. Jon, youre so talented, humble, organised and it's been so wonderful working with you!”
- Isaac & Laura
I was never meant to be photographing Laura & Isaac’s wedding. They had hired a friend of mine to photograph their big day, but with Covid lockdowns and the necessary postponements, the job eventually landed with me. Call it serendipity or a stroke of luck but I’m am so thankful and grateful that it did. Isaac & Laura are the most wonderful people you will ever meet - so warm, so open, so kind. They say birds of a feather flock together. And if you were at their wedding, that warmth and kindness was evident throughout the whole day.
Their wedding was held at Cave Hill Creek - a campsite in Beaufort, about slightly more than 2 hours from Melbourne. Guests were invited to stay over for the weekend in the camp site, with shared toilets and breakfast served in a hall. This allowed the celebrations to overflow to the rest of the weekend - exactly what Isaac & Laura wanted.
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” - Dr Seuss
What is this overflowing love wrapped in warmth and kindness you speak of, you might ask?
If you were there, you would have felt it while mingling with the guests - how friendships intersected and new bonds were quickly formed with each sip of champagne. If you were there, you would have felt it as they said their vows under the canopy of trees and mid afternoon summer light. If you were there, you would have felt it with each excited hug of congratulations to the newly weds. If you were there, you would have felt it by the way loved ones glanced as each other as stories were told during the reception. If you were there, you would have felt it during the crisp summer night’s breeze while they danced the night away.
By the end of the night, I had to change my shoes because blisters have started to appear on my feet. As I head to my room to turn in for the night, Laura gives me a big hug and said, Jon, this is the definitely the best day of my life. To which I replied - Laura, this is honestly the best wedding I’ve been to in a long time. Thank you so much for having me.
