Japanese Inspired Autumn Wedding

Like the blending of autumn colours, Michelle and Taka's wedding was a beautiful union of their Irish, Italian and Japanese heritages. I've always loved how weddings are occasion to remember the importance of our origins - our sources, if you like. Our family, our culture, those who have gone before us.

Many aspects of Michelle and Taka's intimate celebration reminded me of this, and of the bittersweet we experience in the changing seasons of life.  They exchanged their vows in front of a hand painted Irish blessing, in honour of Michelle's dad, who had recently passed away. Michelle said it made it feel like they had a little bit of him with them during the ceremony.

In being married, in coming together to be bonded as family - we make promises to love and cherish our partner's family as our own.
